PowerSchool SIS - RIDE ADT Working Implementation Guide
This document captures the steps for automating RI State Reporting from hosted PowerSchool SIS through the Rhode Island Department of Education’s (RIDE) Automated Data Transfer (ADT) agent.
Recommendations
- As of September 2025
- PowerSchool Support may not be sufficiently familiar with RI State Reporting and redirect you to the State Reporting Help documentation, which has not been updated. Be wary of PowerSchool documents that have not been updated to reflected the Enhanced UI.
- Eg. The RIDE aligned reports that can be run manually in PowerSchool SIS are found in Date and Reporting > Reports > Compliance Reports (not “State Reports” as you’ll find in the help documents)
- PowerSchool SIS does not offer any direct way to automatically export data for RIDE reporting through the ADT agent
- In order to automate reporting through ADT, you will need VPN access to connect to your hosted database. Once connected, you can use ODBC to extract and send the required data to RIDE through the ADT.
Implementation
Below is a step-by-step guide to setting up a Windows environment to connect to your hosted PowerSchool SIS using VPN, extracting the data using ODBC and SQL queries, and scheduling the data upload to RIDE using the ADT agent.
These steps assume you already have some prerequisites:
- VPN/OBDC Credentials from PowerSchool
- Access to administer a Windows computer (physical or virtual) (x64 is recommended)
- Access to district RIDE Portal & eRIDE with the following modules:

ADT Access
eRIDE Enrollment Census
